Russia is aiding President Trump in the 2020 election, intelligence officials told lawmakers. Trump complained Democrats might exploit the news.
Russia interfered in the election of the president of the United States once—and they’re at it again.
Election security is national security. Republican leaders need to get serious about protecting our elections.
It’s time to elect a progressive majority in Congress accountable to strong, grassroots movements that push support for issues like Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, racial justice, & more.
It’s time to elect public servants with the Courage to Change:
Today @CouragetoChange is announcing its first endorsements of newcomers to Congress:
Cristina Tzintzún Ramirez (TX)
Teresa Fernandez (NM)
Kara Eastman (NE)
Georgette Gomez (CA)
Marie Newman (IL)
Jessica Cisneros (TX)
Samelys Lopez (NY)
You can't change a corrupt system by taking its money. I am proud to be the only non-billionaire in this race without a super PAC spending millions of dollars to support me.
One major reason I support Bernie is his consistency when things are hard.
Not only does Bernie reject corporate money in 2020, he’s also never taken corporate lobbyist money in his *entire political career.*
He is a real one. And in politics, that is nearly impossible to find.
So...a brokered convention sounds terrible.
Yeah, I’ve been sitting with this.
Genuinely asking, if your candidate - Biden, Buttigieg, Warren, Klobuchar etc - clearly had the most votes and the most delegates, why shouldn’t they be the nominee?
And what do folks envision as a fair and just alternative in doing otherwise?
It’s truly time to retire the misogynist trope that angry men are powerful, yet angry women are unhinged.
It’s such gaslighting nonsense. You SHOULD be mad at abuse of power. The real question is how one channels that energy into positive change that creates justice.
Mean and angry Warren is not a good look
Warren was not mean, nor angry.
She was effective.
And by the way, we are allowed to be angry about racial profiling. You’re allowed to be angry about sexual harassment. Or at big banks committing fraud against single parents.
Anger at injustice is quite appropriate.
This @AdamSerwer essay is clear-eyed and perfectly accurate. The truly worrying thing about it, from my perspective, is the hesitancy of the media and the Democratic Party to directly confront the fact that we're now well down the authoritarian slope.
We're tortured with bootstraps! The up-by-bootstraps narrative actually impairs upward mobility by substituting sanctimony for assistance. Fox News and others savaged @aoc for saying that bootstrapping is a fallacy, but she was right. My new column:
Can someone tell her about pensions.
Yes, let’s talk about pensions - like how private equity groups load a ton of risk from unethical practices on the pensions of teachers, nurses, & public servants - so that when a bubble pops, it’s working people that are left holding the bag.
@AOC Ironic that the platform you’re using to say all this is created by now-billionaires who effectively helped in humanity’s greatest instantaneous global connection via internet, an accomplishment worth billions🤷♂️ & by tweeting you’re supporting them and part of the problem, no?
Ironically, the reason many tech platforms have created billionaires is bc they track you without your knowledge, amass your personal data& sell it without your express consent.
You don’t own your data, & you should. And btw, the internet was created w/ publicly funded research.
Reminder of what people are calling the “radical, extreme-left agenda”:
✅ Medicare for All
✅ A Living Wage & Labor Rights
✅ K-16 schooling, aka Public Colleges
✅ 100% Renewable Energy
✅ Fixing the pipes in Flint
✅ Not Hurting Immigrants
✅ Holding Wall Street Accountable
