We love these illustrations of #JuliaDonaldson and #AxelScheffler's much loved characters educating children about safety. If these made you smile, you might like to have a go at drawing your very own Gruffalo...

Have you ever heard of Richard Beauchamp, Earl of Warwick in the 15th century?

We know so much about him partly due to the survival of this unique manuscript, which illustrates the key events in his life.

And it's now online.

It’s the 1st of April and spring is, well, springing, just like this sprightly dancing girl.

If you would like to see more apocalyptic images on your #WFH lunch break, our suggestion for #Dantedì is the earliest surviving complete feature-length film, made in 1911, 'Inferno'. Silent, visually striking and inspired by #GustaveDoré's iconic images:

For #Dantedi a breathtaking copy of La Commedia, printed in Florence in 1481 by Nicolaus Laurentii. It has plates engraved by Baldini from designs by Botticelli. The printed illustrations are pasted in, the printer didn’t seem to be confident of printing them with the texts.

Let's start #Dantedì with the historiated incipit of one of the #DivinaCommedia manuscripts that @BLMedieval preserves, Yates Thompson MS 36 (Italy 1444-c.1450)
